Lasqueti Mint
 

I was reading the BC Business magazine yesterday when I found an article on the Lasqueti Mint. Its on an island of Vancounver Island. Basically, they have started stamping their own currency using PMs and are allowed to do it under Canadian law. Their coins are even getting a following from some collectors.

The 3 islands that use the coins are a haven for old hippies, draft dodgers, and those trying to get away from the normal world. The 'mint' has no electricity and uses a hand drop forge. Apparently, the Brazil gov't went to visit them to see how to run a PM based currency.

Leave it to a couple of old hippies to start something that most of us just dream of, a PM based currency.:applause_

Those coins don't appear to have any dollar value stamped on them which is a good idea because we all know what happened to Norfed.
